getting back into the swing of things
After being away from home for most of the summer, I finally feel as if my life is getting back to my definition of "normal". I have 16 hours this semester, which is a pretty tough load for my last fall semester of school (Boo-YAH), but it will definately be worth it in December. This will leave me with a mere 14 hours left to take, 3 of which I hope to use as an externship. Things are really starting to shape up. Aside from my friend at the coffee shop having to deal with my "I'm never going to get a job rant" on occassion, I actually feel as if I am somewhat in control of things- a feeling that I haven't had since I stepped foot in law school 3 years ago. Sure, the 3 hours of commuting I do Monday-Thursday sucks but it is not nearly as bad as being gone 5 days a week and only coming home on the weekends- I will NEVER do that again. I wouldn't have made it through the summer without my friends, but I know when to stop. So, yeah- I finished my summer with 2 B+s and a B- a whopping 3. something GPA which is not bad. I hope to at maintain if not increase it this semester, but I need to get my head out of the clouds and into the books. With my impending trips, this may be tough, but I am willing to sacrifice my weekends if it will just get me that much closer to graduation. Even though I may have nothing lined up at least I know that I will have achieved the one thing that a lot of people said I couldn't do. I am half tempted to copy my diploma and mail it to them, but I think that I will wait until I pass the bar and get a job before I get (what my grandmother calls) "THE BIG HEAD" before I mention it to anyone.
